KAAGNY:

Serving Korean Americans in the Tri-State Area Since 1960

The Korean American Association of Greater New York (KAAGNY) is a dynamic and vibrant organization that serves as the primary voice for the 500,000 Koreans living in the Greater New York area, encompassing Metro New York and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.

Established in 1960, our association has spent over six decades fostering a strong sense of community, advancing the interests, rights, and welfare of Korean Americans, and enhancing the friendship and understanding between our Korean-American community and the wider public. As a platform for community engagement, we work diligently to promote Korean culture, heritage, and values, while actively supporting the integration of Korean-Americans into the American mainstream.

KAAGNY plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the East and the West, nurturing the unique Korean-American identity, and advocating for issues that directly affect our community. We believe in the power of unity and the strength in diversity, and we strive to provide an inclusive space for Koreans of all ages and backgrounds.

From facilitating cultural events, providing resources and support, to being an active voice in local politics and community affairs, KAAGNY ensures that the voices of half a million Korean-Americans are heard, understood, and empowered. With a rich history and a promising future, the Korean American Association of Greater New York continues to serve as a beacon of unity, a pillar of support, and a symbol of Korean pride in the heart of the American Dream.

The Annual NYC Korean Parade

The annual New York City Korean Parade and Koreatown Street Festival have become integral parts of NYC tradition, celebrating cultural diversity and offering New Yorkers the opportunity to participate in the unique aspects of Korean culture. Located in the heart of Manhattan, the Parade and Street Festival are hosted by the Korean American Association of Greater New York every year.

KAAGNY oversees the funding and operational aspects of the Parade & Street Festival, including permits, installation of a large stage, booths, and insurance necessary to the event’s success. The Korean Parade and Festival is an opportunity for Korean-Americans to cultivate and reaffirm their identities, and to share various facets of Korean culture with New York City and the world. The Parade and Festival features the best of what local businesses and vendors have to offer, as well as traditional Korean cultural performances.

2020 Korea Week

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 KAAGNY has taken its usual program online and turned it into a virtual celebration of Korean heritage, media, and culture. 2020 Korea Week featured Korean cooking demonstrations, traditional Korean music, speaker events, and exciting performances that highlight Korea’s unique culture.
